Loose ends were tied on the Civil War Families application for James H. Williams. In addition, I received a copy of his widow’s pension application and papers that give a lot of details on his life and injuries received in the Civil War.
Research continues for my Civil War solider ancestors and my latest soldier is James H. Williams of Smith and Dekalb Counties, Tennessee.
Bailey Peyton Mundy of Smith and Macon Counties, TN is the next ancestor I am submitting for approval in the Civil War Families of Tennessee.
I’ve completed the first application and copied the proof needed for requesting membership in the Civil War Families of Tennessee under great-great-great grandfather Captain Claiborne Wright West. And, though the lines were already proven by my great-great uncle Hoke West, I still found a few surprises and learned something new.
Membership in Civil War Families of Tennessee, an adjunct association of The East Tennessee Historical Society, is my latest project. I have two great-great-great grandfathers who fought in the Civil War: Claibourne Wright West of Smith Co. TN and George W. Tomberlain of White Co. TN. My next step: obtaining the proof (birth and death records, marriages, etc) that proves my line of descent from Claibourne Wright West and George W. Tomberlain to me.
